NASA has officially commenced operations of its SPHEREx (Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization, and Ices Explorer) space observatory. This ambitious mission will conduct a detailed 3D mapping of the universe using infrared light, aiming to unravel mysteries surrounding galaxy origins, cosmic evolution, and the presence of water and organic molecules across our Milky Way. Over the next two years, SPHEREx will systematically survey over 300 million galaxies and numerous star-forming regions, significantly enhancing our understanding of cosmology, dark matter, and the fundamental processes that govern our universe.
